Turquoise Holidays is one of a kind. The team’s passion for the destinations they cover is exceptional with their recommendations based on first hand experience. They stood out by a country mile when we chose our honeymoon as they listened to our requirements and made suggestions based on what we wanted. Our Tahitian honeymoon was just superb – the perfect combination of relaxation and adventure coupled with breathtaking scenery and local cuisine. The tranquility of Tikehau in the Tuamotu Islands meant we were quick to relax by our beach bungalow. By contrast, Moorea (Mo’orea) in the Society Islands enabled us to do as little or as much as we wanted. The quiet times saw us enjoy magnificent views of the lagoon from our overwater bungalow while feeding tropical fish. Our adventurous side involved swimming with sharks, stroking stingrays and attempting Tahitian dancing. We may have had a few too many with the locals too.
How our priorities changed when we became parents! Those heady days of lying on a beach for hours on end while reading a book or having a cheeky doze are a distant memory. Nowadays our family holidays are tailored around the adventures we have with our five year old daughter – not that we’d have it any other way! We’ve not quite adapted to her starting school having been ‘book whenever a holiday takes our fancy’ types in the past. Suffice to say, we’ve not organised anything for the February half-term. If you’re in the same boat and keen to get away during school holidays, Turquoise Holidays has some great offers available in Mauritius.
From fun in the sand, dolphin watching or visiting a volcano to horse riding, 4×4 road trips or spending a day with giant tortoises, Mauritius is an ideal holiday destination for families. Turquoise Holidays hand-picks all their hotels so we thought we’d take a peek at a few of those that offer facilities for children of varying ages.
First up is the luxurious Heritage Le Telfair which is perfectly positioned in the foothills of the Plaine Champagne. Situated on the 600 acre former Bel Ombre sugar estate, it has 158 rooms and a history that dates back 200 years. With a lagoon, unspoiled beach and tropical gardens, this resort seems to offer that rare taste of paradise.
If you’re travelling with an infant, you’ll receive a basket of the basics when you arrive. The Timomo & Friends Kids Club provides childcare from 2-11 with activities including crab hunting and fishing or making instruments. However their Baby Club excepts babies from age 0! Baby Timomo is dedicated to children under 2 years old with six highly trained nurses on hand to care for the children 7 days a week from 8.30am to 4pm.
For the teens, there’s an array of sports on offer as well as treasure hunts, camp fires and even mixing music! Sailing, windsurfing, water skiing, kitesurfing and tennis is available for the more energetic although there’s also a spa and championship golf course (with unlimited green fees) if you want to take it easy. Off resort the 3,500 acre Bel Ombre Nature Reserve can be explored on horseback, quad bike or mountain bike.
The Residence blends 1920’s colonial charm with contemporary cool. Located on the east coast, this luxury retreat is nestled between tropical gardens and a beach of platinum white sand. Step back into a bygone era of romance and adventure and inspire the Hemingway or Kipling in you. The Planters Kids Club is perfect for children aged 3-12. Open from 9am to 10pm, they can embark on activities such as treasure hunts, pony rides and picnics on the beach. Water-skiing, windsurfing, hobie cat sailing, paddle boats and glass bottom boats are all complimentary. Relaxation comes in the form of The Sanctuary spa which has nine treatment rooms with Tai Chi, Pilates, reflexology and an array of massages on offer.
The final resort is the the lavish Constance Le Prince Maurice which is located in a sheltered beach-front setting on the north east coast. Set in sixty acres of tropical garden with a lagoon and natural fishing reserve, it’s seen as one of the finest in the Indian Ocean. The Constance Club caters for children aged 4-11 with local arts and crafts like palm frond weaving and bamboo rain-stick making on offer. The club also has a pool, playground and open play areas. Other facilities on resort include water sports, tennis and cycling with golf available at two nearby courses. There’s also a heated lap pool and pampering treatments available in the spa.
Turquoise Holidays specialises in family holidays to destinations such as Thailand, Malaysia, Antigua and Mauritius. Having had such an incredible time holidaying with them in the past, this pleases us greatly. Especially as their family holidays are just as much for children as they are the adults. WOW! Looks breathe taking from start to finish. So much geared to families too, I love all the little extras, as they make a holiday really something to remember. They are real 5 star holidays, fantastic packages and an amazing destinations. Shame totally out of my price range.
Just looking at the pictures is making me day dream I was there, those beaches are gorgeous, maybe one day I will save enough 🙂 It looks worth making some sacrifices to holiday in such a beautiful destination x
Looks breathtaking. I would love to visit one day, probably when the kids are older as not sure I could manage a long haul flight with a toddler just yet
The stuff dreams are made of! I’ve always wanted to go to Mauritius ever since I had a Mauritian boyfriend about 30 years ago! It’s still on my bucket list.
I have always wanted to go to Mauritius. One day, perhaps in 4 years time for our 25th Wedding anniversary
The sea looks so beautiful in the photos, so different from the UK!
I so want to be there, fed up of bugs in this house and would just love to escape to a beautiful island. These look perfect X
Wow this looks amazing and definitely a dream holiday especially with this drab UK weather we’re having! I’d very quickly swap here for this sunshine and sparkly water. x
