Ten holiday essentials to pack in your Trunki

POD Travels asked POD aged 5 what she packs in her Trunki. Her Trunki is three years old and his name is Gaston (in homage to the eponymous Ladybird in Ben and Holly’s Little Kingdom), although officially he’s the Harley Ladybird Model.

PODcast 6B5A5551He’s already well travelled; so far he’s been to Rhodes, Corsica, Brussels, Bruges, Bolougne Sur-Mer, Ghent, Devon and Norton, Suffolk (Baba and Gagam’s house.) He’ll be joining her on a trip to Le Touquet in France later this month as well as being onboard Brittany Ferries Cap Finistère to Bilboa from Portsmouth before spending a week in a mountain cottage in the beautiful Picos de Europa in Northern Spain with Rustical Travel, returning home on the Pont Aven, Brittany Ferries’ flagship ship, to Plymouth.

POD’s Top Ten Trunki essentials

  1. Books: As many Julia Donaldson as I can squeeze in – Zog, Superworm, The Gruffalo, Stickman…
  2. Paperchase pencil case: My owl one is the best.
  3. Colouring book: I couldn’t be without this, unless I have stickers.
  4. iPad: Fully loaded with my favourites The Octonauts, Peppa Pig and Ben & Holly’s Little Kingdom.
  5. Headphones: These are pink, (my favourite colour) I’ve decorated them with stickers so I know they’re mine.
  6. Penguin: He fell in the Ghent River but luckily we managed to fish him out. Sometimes Bunny keeps him company.
  7. JoJo Maman Bebe Sunglasses: Pink (of course)
  8. Mini Boden onesie: If I need a quick change into something snuggly.
  9. Boots Soltan sun lotion: Never go in the sun without putting cream on. Soltan smells nice and isn’t too greasy
  10. Muzzy the muslin: I don’t really need this anymore but I like to sleep with it.

PODcast - Trunki collagePOD’s Trunki has accompanied her as hand luggage on flights to Greece, Corsica and France and it’s the perfect size to carry on. We’ve made full use of it’s usps as a ride on, fun and practical alternative to a back-pack or wheeled suitcase. On the weekend breaks we’ve enjoyed via the Channel Tunnel her Trunki has ridden alongside her in the car allowing for quick and easy access to all her holiday essentials. She loves the independence of having her own luggage and packing her Trunki has become an integral part of her holiday experience. We expect Gaston will be joining us on many more to come.

Trunkis are such magic things. We still take ours absolutely everywhere and people still look at it all amazed!

Ah, Gaston, great name. We also have a Harley but I think he’ll be renamed very shortly. The Little Kingdom is currently the favourite TV programme in our house. Great packing list. We’ve already got some headphones on order after seeing them recommended elsewhere, but I think we need to add some sunglasses quick. Tin Box Tot has lost hers. Thanks for the reminder!

We’ve got one too, and it is great, we pack pretty similar things in 🙂 snacks too, and a change of clothes and pull-ups just in case (my daughter is not quite three yet).
