If you love the great outdoors as much as we do, you’ll appreciate the importance of a good picnic mat. The PACMAT range from Rubbastuff is waterproof, compact and easily portable so it’s ideal for families and as we discovered, for hiking!
We were recently sent a beautiful Poppy Family PACMAT picnic mat which is designed by Gabby Malpas. We’ve already had it out in the garden, used it as a rug in our “lounge” when we went camping in the Swiss Alps where it also came trekking with us. Weighing just 485g, it’s easy to carry around and barely takes up any space in our rucksack.
Our colourful Poppy Family PACMAT (140cm x 140cm) comes in a bag with four sturdy pegs included. There are stitched buttonholes in each of the mat’s four corners so it can easily be pegged into position. Folded up and popped back into its bag when we’ve finished with it. The PACMAT is super light, has a rip-stop nylon waterproof bottom and a soft polyester top so it sheds water and dries quickly. When our PACMAT gets mucky (which let’s be honest will probably be next week!), we can just pop it on a cool cycle in the washing machine.
The PACMAT Family range (RRP £39.99) is available in an array of designs including Ordnance Survey, Butterflies and Nature Trail. You may remember we gave away (on my PODcast blog and Mini Travellers) a Nature Trail PACMAT to celebrate the #UKExplore community on Instagram reaching 40k.
In addition to the PACMAT Family, XL and XXL range, there’s the Patch collection (a warm picnic mat for one with a 3M Thinsulate layer in the middle), the Patch Deluxe (with triple Thinsulate) and the Signature Thermal Patch Plus. The Solo collection can be used as a gym mat, beach mat or a picnic rug for two with the carryall a bag which transforms into a mat when it’s empty! We like all the little extras on offer from Rubbastuff too like the 101 Things For Kids To Do Outside book and The Stick Book plus the Go Find It game which is a treasure hunt for the outdoors and brilliant fun! Disclosure: We were sent a Poppy Family PACMAT for the purpose of this review. Opinions are as always our own.
